On November 16, the Governor and First Lady joined breast cancer survivors at Churchill Downs for Horses and Hope, a day to raise awareness of breast cancer and to honor survivors.
October 30, Churchill Downs lit the Twin Spires “pink” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Keeneland was host to the third Horses and Hope race day at the track. The rain did little to dampen the spirits of the survivors in attendance. Survivors received pink fleece scarves and goody bags.
This October, First Lady Jane Beshear along with The Department of Victims Services, Drug Court, The Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs and The Commission on Women held a needed goods drive for the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association shelters at Kroger stores across the Commonwealth. Thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Kentucky, over $200,000 in needed goods were raised for victims of domestic violence.
Turfway Park played host to the second Horses and Hope race day at the track. Over 200 survivors attended along with First Lady Jane Beshear.
First Lady Jane Beshear welcomed approximately 1,000 breast cancer survivors from across the commonwealth to the 11th annual Celebration of Hope.
