Celebration of Hope

Celebration of Hope Luncheon

Gov. Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin hosted the 2016 Celebration of Hope luncheon in honor of those lives affected by breast cancer. Through this event, Gov. Bevin and the First Lady raised over $65,000 in donations that will go directly to the Markey Cancer Center for breast cancer research.

“We look forward to a day when men and women are no longer affected by this disease,” said First Lady Bevin. “Kentucky is the leading state for cancer diagnosis. In the case of breast cancer, early detection is crucial. That is why I encourage all Kentuckians to discuss the signs and risks of this disease with their doctors.”

In addition to raising funds, Gov. Bevin also proclaimed October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As a symbol of solidarity with breast cancer survivors, the Governor’s Mansion will be lit pink from Oct. 11-14th.
