The Governor’s Office recognizes the importance of maximizing creativity in the minds of our young people. We believe giving students the chance to use their creative skills for a greater cause allows them the confidence to share their own original ideas. That is why we are offering an opportunity for students to take advantage of their artistic talents. Every year, the Governor and First Lady design a Derby poster to display in the Capitol. Typically, professionals have been chosen to create the poster.
This year, we want students throughout the Commonwealth to form their own rendition of what they think Derby day looks like. The deadline for submission is February 20, 2017.
The five finalists will be invited to attend a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion where the winner will be revealed. The winner will be given the opportunity to attend the Kentucky Derby Festival Luncheon and the Derby Eve Gala as a guest of the Governor and First Lady.
