The 2008 Easter Egg Roll at the Governor's Mansion will take place on Saturday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m.  The event includes a series of egg roll races across the lawn of the historic Governor's Mansion and, this year, Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo will entertain guests with a book reading. Participants will also enjoy a number of interactive booths and exhibits, including an egg-dying and decorating booth sponsored by the Kentucky Egg Council and Cal-Maine Foods, Inc.

This event is free and open to the public and the majority of events are open to all children. The Easter egg roll, however, is limited to the first 500 children under 10 years of age. Participants will receive a commemorative poster featuring artwork by Kentucky artist Sallie Clay Lanham and a special gift.

All participants and visitors are encouraged to bring a new book to donate to Franklin County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which advocates for abused and neglected children throughout the area and will distribute donated books to the children it serves.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled but sponsors will be present from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. to distribute goody bags. Any decision regarding cancellation will be made and distributed to the media by 9 a.m the day of the event.

For additional information or questions regarding the Easter Egg Roll, please call the Frankfort/Franklin County Tourist Commission at 502-875-8687, or 800-960-7200.
